Arbella Insurance Foundation Donates $50,000 to 25 Different Local Charities as Part of “50 to 25” Program

Program celebrates Arbella Insurance Group’s 25th anniversary by giving back to the communities it serves

QUINCY, Mass., September 11, 2013 — As part of its “50 to 25” program, the Arbella Insurance Foundation has awarded one-time grants of $50,000 to 25 local charities throughout Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Connecticut. “50 to 25” was created in recognition of the Arbella Insurance Group (“Arbella”)’s 25th anniversary and the important role the Foundation plays in supporting the communities Arbella serves.

The Foundation’s Selection Committee chose the 25 recipient charities from proposals thoughtfully submitted by Arbella employees, independent insurance agents and longtime charitable partners. Checks were presented to the selected charities at a celebratory luncheon in Quincy on September 10th. The selected charities are involved in social services, health and/or education.

“We’re proud to be celebrating Arbella’s 25th anniversary this year,” said John Donohue, chairman, president and CEO of the Arbella Insurance Group and chairman and president of the Arbella Insurance Foundation. “In recognition of that milestone and the important role Arbella’s Foundation plays in supporting our communities, we wanted to do something that would have a real impact in our communities. I can’t imagine a better way to celebrate Arbella’s 25 years of serving New England than to recognize the charities that are helping to make this region thrive.”

Interfaith Social Services, a grassroots organization assisting more than 25,000 South Shore residents each year, will use its 50 to 25 grant to repair its aging building. The funds will help replace rotting windows, resurface the floors in the counseling center and thrift shop and fix the heating system in half of the building, as it was inoperable last winter.

“This grant personifies Arbella’s culture of corporate responsibility and volunteerism,” said Rick Doane, executive director of Interfaith Social Services. “Arbella employees regularly volunteer in our food pantry, help maintain our community garden, organize food and clothing drives, and much more. We are honored to have been selected for this grant and to work beside them as partners in our community.”
