Arbella Donates $95,000 to Project Bread’s Walk for Hunger, Celebrating Seventh Year as Major Corporate Sponsor

“Team Arbella” Walkers Contribute $45,000 to 46th Annual Event

QUINCY, Mass., May 6, 2014 — For the sixth year in a row, The Arbella Insurance Foundation proudly served as a major sponsor for Project Bread’s annual Walk for Hunger for the seventh year in a row on Sunday, May 4. An impressive 494 registered Team Arbella walkers, including Arbella Insurance Group employees, family members and friends, took part in the annual hunger relief and prevention walk. This year’s Walk, which covers 20 miles through the streets of Boston, Brookline, Newton, Watertown and Cambridge, raised an estimated $3.5 million to support the more than 700,000 people in Massachusetts who are currently food insecure.

As one of the Walk’s top corporate participants and the top fundraising team, Team Arbella raised over $45,000 for the cause. Combined with the Arbella Insurance Foundation’s $50,000 sponsorship, the company’s overall donation totaled over $95,000. In the seven years they have participated, Team Arbella and the Arbella Insurance Foundation have donated a combined $738,000 to the Walk for Hunger.

“The Walk for Hunger has become one of the highlights of the year for us at Arbella,” said Jenn Reale, captain of Team Arbella. “The Arbella Insurance Group employees rally around this event because it’s a fun afternoon spent together, but more importantly, it’s a powerful way to give back to the communities we serve. We are proud to be a part of this amazing event that is so crucial to our region.”

“We are so grateful for the amazing support we receive from Arbella walkers and the Foundation year after year,” said Ellen Parker, executive director of Project Bread. “Arbella has proven to be an invaluable partner in the Walk for Hunger. Their fundraising alone is remarkable, but what makes Arbella so special is the outstanding turnout they get from their employees, friends and family. Arbella’s commitment to the people of New England is truly evident.”

Employees from Arbella’s Boston, Brockton, Bridgewater, Randolph, Quincy, Springfield and Wakefield offices participated in the 46th annual Walk for Hunger. The event, which started in Boston in 1969, is the country’s oldest continual pledge walk. It begins and ends in Boston Common, with more than 40,000 people participating each year.
