Arbella Donates $85,000 to Project Bread’s Walk for Hunger, Celebrates Eighth Year as Major Corporate Sponsor

More than 400 “Team Arbella” Walkers Contribute $35,000 to 47th Annual Event

QUINCY, Mass., May 6, 2015 – The Arbella Insurance Foundation proudly served as a major sponsor for Project Bread’s annual Walk for Hunger for the eighth year in a row on Sunday, May 3. An impressive 433 registered Team Arbella walkers, including Arbella Insurance Group employees, family members and friends, took part in the annual hunger relief and prevention walk. This year’s Walk, which covered 20 miles through the streets of Boston, Brookline, Newton, Watertown and Cambridge, raised more than $3 million to support the more than 700,000 people in Massachusetts who are currently food insecure.

Team Arbella once again earned a spot as one of the Walk’s top corporate participants and top fundraising team, raising $35,000 for the cause. Combined with the Arbella Insurance Foundation’s $50,000 sponsorship, the company’s overall donation totaled more than $85,000. In the eight years they have participated, Team Arbella and the Arbella Insurance Foundation have donated a combined $727,800 to the Walk for Hunger.

“The Walk is a longstanding tradition at Arbella, and an event employees look forward to,” said Jenn Reale, captain of Team Arbella. “It’s so inspiring to rally together to have a meaningful impact in the fight to end hunger in our own communities, where so many are affected.”

“We are so grateful for the outstanding support we receive from Arbella year after year, and are proud to partner with a company that truly knows what it means to give back,” said Ellen Parker, executive director of Project Bread. “Not only is Arbella a top corporate participant and top fundraising team each year, but Arbella’s employees are truly invested in the cause and their enthusiasm and dedication is unparalleled. Thanks to their support, we are able to do our part to end hunger in Massachusetts, which is especially vital this year after such a devastating winter.”

Employees from Arbella’s Boston, Brockton, Bridgewater, Randolph, Quincy, Springfield and Wakefield offices participated in the 47th annual Walk for Hunger. The event, which started in Boston in 1969, is the country’s oldest continual pledge walk and raises funds to build sustainable, community-based solutions to address the problem of hunger. The Walk begins and ends in Boston Common, with more than 2,000 volunteers and 40,000 people participating each year.
