Recognized for employee satisfaction and positive workplace culture, Arbella earns second place in the large business category
QUINCY, Mass., July 28, 2015 – The Arbella Insurance Group (“Arbella”) announced that it has been recognized as one of the Boston Business Journal’s “Best Places to Work” for 2015, marking the seventh consecutive year in a row the company has been honored in the large business category. This year was especially exciting, as Arbella placed second in the category. The award program recognizes small, medium and large-sized companies with high levels of employee satisfaction and positive workplace cultures.
The Arbella Insurance Group is a mutual insurance company based in Quincy, Mass. that employs more than 900 workers in the state and is affiliated with a network of approximately 500 independent insurance agents. Arbella prides itself on its commitment to employees and its strong retention rate, with 60 percent of Arbella employees staying with the company for five or more years, and more than 32 percent for at least 15 years. The company is known for its exceptional customer service and its continued commitment to giving back to the communities it serves, through the Arbella Insurance Foundation.
“It is truly an honor to be recognized as a Best Place to Work for seven consecutive years,” said Ellen Mann, Director of Human Resources at the Arbella Insurance Group. “We are very proud of our employees and the outstanding culture we have created together. Our employees care about building relationships both at work and in the community. Most participate in many of Arbella’s charitable initiatives. They enjoy getting involved.”
In fact, since Arbella's Charitable Foundation was created in 2004, employees with support from the Foundation have donated more than $725,000 to hundreds of local charities and Arbella employees have logged thousands of volunteering hours. This past year, Arbella employees participated in a wide variety of charitable events, including the Jimmy Fund Radio-Telethon, The Walk for Hunger, the Cradles to Crayons Backpack-A-Thon and many more.
Arbella’s strong, hardworking and collaborative culture supports employee well being in a number of ways through work-life balance options, a variety of health and fitness related programs and many learning and development opportunities. “Arbella’s outstanding leadership and Human Resources team guided and supported my pursuit to grow within the company, and gave me the tools necessary to make my job a career,” said Ryan Lund, Service Desk Analyst at the Arbella Insurance Group. “From our extensive community outreach programs, to our countless learning and development opportunities, Arbella fosters a family atmosphere with many loyal employees. I’m proud to call Arbella my home away from home.”
Each year, the Boston Business Journal’s “Best Places to Work” program recognizes more than 60 small, medium and large-size businesses whose benefits and unique initiatives put them ahead on the employee satisfaction curve. To select the winners, employees from nearly 300 Massachusetts-based companies participate in an anonymous survey that asks about company benefits, atmosphere, values and loyalty. The results are analyzed by a third-party research firm, and the winners are broken down into three categories based on size.
The 2015 “Best Places to Work” rankings were released at a June 18th event at the Citi Performing Arts Center.
