Arbella Insurance Foundation Supports Disabled Veterans with New NESN Promotion

Proceeds to benefit local non-profit Disabled and Limbless Veterans

QUINCY, Mass., November 18, 2014 – The Arbella Insurance Foundation today announced a new charity program with New England Sports Network (NESN), home of Boston Bruins hockey, that will support the Massachusetts-based Disabled and Limbless Veterans. For every power play goal scored by the Boston Bruins this season, Arbella’s Foundation will donate $500 to the Disabled and Limbless Veterans, up to $25,000.

Disabled and Limbless Veterans, Inc. is a 501 (C)(3) non-profit charity. One hundred percent of all donations go back to America’s most needy veterans and their families.  The group serves US military veterans through a variety of services, including serving meals at local shelters, providing care packages for troops overseas, visiting VA hospitals, and holding events to raise money for their three charitable partners – Operation Troop Support (Danvers), the New England Center for Homeless Veterans (Boston) and the Mass Bay Veterans Shelter (Somerville). The organization also manages Massachusetts’s “Supporting Our Veterans” license plates, the proceeds of which will aid veterans.

“Arbella has long supported veterans’ causes, as we are profoundly grateful for the sacrifices these men and women have made for our country,” said John Donohue, chairman, president and CEO of the Arbella Insurance Group and chairman and president of Arbella’s Foundation. “We’re pleased to be able to partner with NESN to support an organization that works so hard to make sure our veterans and their families get the care they deserve.”

The Arbella Insurance Foundation has supported numerous local veterans’ organizations including the New England Center for Homeless Veterans, the Boston Harbor Islands Alliance Veterans Day Cruise, iPods for Wounded Vets and Father Bill’s and MainSprings’ housing for veterans.

“We are so very appreciative of the continued support from Arbella’s Foundation,” said Dominic Marcellino, president of Disabled and Limbless Veterans. “The Power Play Promotion is a great way to raise funds for veterans in need while also raising awareness for our organization.”
