The Arbella Insurance Foundation is proud to sponsor the Be a Hero program at Gillette Stadium. Organized by the HERO Campaign, the program promotes safe driving and rewards designated drivers for making responsible choices.
The John R. Elliot HERO Campaign for Designated Drivers was founded in memory of Navy Ensign John Elliot, who was tragically killed in a drunk driving accident in 2000. The campaign strives to end drunk driving tragedies across the nation by promoting the use of safe and sober designated drivers. They’ve partnered with different sports teams, concert venues, and universities and have registered more than 100,000 designated drivers to date.
For the fourth consecutive year, the New England Patriots have led the NFL in designated drivers and are looking for that trend to continue. At each home game, the Arbella Charitable Foundation sends 5-10 employee volunteers to engage with the fans, inform them about the program, and encourage them to sign up at one of the HERO booths.
There are plenty of great rewards for designated drivers, which include a free 24 oz. soda, a Be a Hero wristband, and an Arbella Rally Towel. They’ll also be entered to win a $100 gift card to the Patriot Place restaurant sponsoring that specific home game and a pre-game field pass to another Patriots game. At year’s end, on lucky person will be selected as the Designated Driver of the Year, who will get to join Patriot’s Owner Robert Kraft on the field for a ceremony and a chance to win the grand prize trip to the Super bowl!
Arbella employees love volunteering at the games as a way to engage with other fans about safe driving as well to promote the Foundation. And as a bonus, they get to watch the second half of the game from the box!
