Arbella Named NESN’s Presenting Sponsor of 2013 WEEI/NESN Jimmy Fund Radio-Telethon
Facebook and Red Sox Promotions Help Boost Arbella Foundation’s Support of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute
QUINCY, Mass. August 6, 2013 — The Arbella Insurance Foundation is proud to be NESN’s presenting sponsor of the 12th annual WEEI/NESN Jimmy Fund Radio-Telethon, a two-day Radio-Telethon at Fenway Park. Along with its exclusive sponsorship of the official Radio-Telethon tote board – a progressive indicator of the hourly fundraising success – Arbella’s Foundation will make a generous gift to the Jimmy Fund. Additionally, to maximize its contribution, Arbella is offering an agent matching gift program in which the company will match contributions to the Jimmy Fund from any of its nearly 500 independent agents on a two-to-one basis, up to $500 per agency.
Since its founding in 1948, the Jimmy Fund has supported the fight against cancer in children and adults at Boston's Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Last year’s Radio-Telethon raised more than $3.4 million, and since 2002, the event has generated more than $31 million to help raise the chances of survival for cancer patients around the world.
This year, Arbella’s Foundation is once again making the “Extra Effort to Drive Out Cancer” by contributing $50 for every base hit by Red Sox batters, up to $50,000. The public can visit the Arbella tote board on WEEI.com/extra after every game to track the nightly total.
Another way Arbella is committed to helping the Jimmy Fund is through its Facebook presence. Arbella’s Foundation will give five dollars for every new fan who “likes” Arbella’s Facebook page (up to $5,000 total) through the month of August.
“We’re so fortunate to have a world-class cancer institute like Dana-Farber right in our own backyard,” said John Donohue, chairman, president and CEO of the Arbella Insurance Group and chairman and president of the Arbella Insurance Foundation. “Arbella is a local company, and we’re proud and honored to support the Jimmy Fund and the important work being done at Dana-Farber to help cancer patients and their families in our communities.”
The 36-hour broadcast begins on Tuesday, August 27 at 6:00am and will feature compelling stories from Dana-Farber patients, doctors, researchers and nurses. The Radio-Telethon also showcases inspiring interviews and commentaries by local sports heroes and Hollywood celebrities on the WEEI Sports Radio Network, heard in Boston on 93.7 FM, and on NESN throughout New England and nationally via NESN National.
