Arbella Insurance Group Named One of Boston Business Journal’s “Best Places to Work” for Fifth Consecutive Year
Recognized for employee satisfaction and positive workplace culture
QUINCY, Mass., June 4, 2013 — The Arbella Insurance Group(“Arbella”) today announced that it has been recognized as one of the Boston Business Journal’s “Best Places to Work” for 2013, marking the fifth consecutive year in a row the company has been honored in the large business category. The award program recognizes small, medium and large-sized companies with high levels of employee satisfaction and positive workplace cultures.
The Arbella Insurance Group, a mutual insurance company based in Quincy, Mass., employs over 800 workers in Massachusetts and 80 employees in Connecticut, and is affiliated with a network of approximately 500 independent insurance agents. Arbella prides itself on attracting the best employees in the area and experienced a 5% growth in employee headcount in 2013, in spite of the struggling economy. This is a sure sign of the company’s financial success. Employee retention is impressive – 70 percent of Arbella employees have been with the company for five or more years, and more than 34 percent for at least 15 years. The company is also known for its exceptional customer service and its commitment to giving back to the communities through its Charitable Foundation.

Each year, the Boston Business Journal’s “Best Places to Work” program recognizes 75 small, medium and large-size businesses whose benefits and unique initiatives put them ahead on the employee satisfaction curve. To select the winners, employees from more than 400 Massachusetts-based companies participate in an anonymous survey that asks about company benefits, atmosphere, values and loyalty. The results are analyzed by a third-party research firm, and the winners are broken down into three categories based on size.
The “Best Places to Work” rankings will be released at a June 13th awards celebration at the Citi Wang Theatre.
