Since they merged in 2007, Father Bill’s (founded in 1984) & MainSpring (founded in 1982) together have helped people experiencing homelessness obtain homes by giving temporary shelter and food, finding safe and affordable housing, and providing permanent housing with supportive services. Father Bill’s & MainSpring (FBMS) helps people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness achieve self-sufficiency.
Partners in Giving
The Arbella Insurance Foundation began its partnership with FBMS in 2006 with a donation in support of a fundraiser. Over the years, the partnership has grown significantly, and recently the Arbella Insurance Foundation has been the Premier Sponsor of the organization’s annual Food Fest fundraiser. In addition, Arbella’s Foundation provides support to the Workforce program, designed to help individuals learn the proper skills to gain employment. Over the years, hundreds of people have obtained jobs with help from the Workforce program.
FBMS's Impact Expands
Through the Foundation’s 50 to 25 program, FBMS was awarded a $50,000 grant that was used for the organization’s WorkExpress Quincy Expansion Project. WorkExpress employs men and women in commercial cleaning, landscaping and apartment rehab. The Foundation’s grant allowed FBMS to lease two apartments in Quincy for participants in the WorkExpress program to reside. This was a critical step in the initial expansion process.
Arbella Employee Involvement
Arbella employees have volunteered at FBMS on a regular basis since 2008 by bringing and serving lunch at the shelters in Quincy and Brockton. Additionally, Arbella employees have held donation drives for items such as sheets, blankets and socks for the guests of FBMS, and they also attend and support the FBMS’s annual fundraiser.
