The Arbella Insurance Foundation strives to be an industry leader in promoting safe driving decisions and has therefore partnered with several initiatives to lower the incidence of this dangerous behavior. One of the programs we sponsor that has had great success is the Road Crew Designated Driver program.
The Road Crew program, entering its fourth season, provides complimentary soft drinks to concertgoers at the Xfinity Center and Blue Hills Bank Pavilion who pledge to be designated drivers for their groups. When patrons arrive at each venue, they are afforded the opportunity to sign up as a designated driver at a marked Arbella Road Crew tent. Participants are then given a Road Crew cup, bracelets, and drink vouchers that they can use to get fountain drinks.
In addition to receiving free soft drinks at the concerts, participants are entered into a drawing for the Designated Driver of the year award. The winner receives two tickets to every concert the following summer, at either venue. This is also a volunteer opportunity for our company employees, who love helping out at the booths to promote safe driving and then they get to enjoy the show.
A Long Standing Commitment
“The Arbella Foundation has made it our mission to build awareness and incentivize the prevention of distracted driving and drunk driving,” said John Donohue, chairman, president and CEO of the Arbella Insurance Group, and chairman and president of the Arbella Insurance Foundation. “The summer is a great time to gather with friends and enjoy live music, and Road Crew is our way of rewarding concertgoers who also make responsible driving decisions after a night out.”
The Road Crew program aligns with other Foundation initiatives such as the Be a Hero campaign and the Distractology 101 program. Similar to the Road Crew program, the Be A Hero campaign rewards fans who pledge to be the designated driver for their group. The program is for Patriots and Revolution games at Gillette Stadium. The Distractology 101 is a mobile classroom that visits high schools around New England to raise awareness of the dangers of distracted driving.
