Cradles To Crayons

Since 2000, Cradles to Crayons has provided children from birth through age 12 who are living in homeless or low-income situations, with the essential items they need to thrive—at home, at school, and at play. Working in close partnership with social workers, nurses, teachers, and therapists, Cradles to Crayons has become a trusted resource to thousands of children and families in need.

A Deepening Partnership

The Arbella Insurance Foundation began its support of Cradles to Crayons in 2008 and has strengthened its partnership over the years with an increase of financial support, employee volunteers, and donation drives for essential items. The Foundation has also supported the organization’s annual Back Pack-a-Thon, its Gear Up for Winter campaign, and most recently, its Gear Up for Babies campaign.

The Foundation’s 50 to 25 grant has given Cradles to Crayons the opportunity to develop its “Give Back with an Outfit” program, which offers donors the option to donate an entire cold weather outfit to meet the needs of a specific child. The grant was also used to purchase a large order of winter coats, filling a key gap in Cradles to Crayons’ inventory. This funding also made it possible for Cradles to Crayons to beta test its new community outreach program, which moves collection and engagement opportunities into communities with permanent branded collection units.

Serving Children in Need

Over the years, Cradles to Crayons has provided free packages of clothes, shoes, books, toys, baby safety equipment, and school supplies to thousands of children in Massachusetts and the Philadelphia area.

Arbella Insurance Group employees volunteer at Cradles to Crayons on a regular basis at the Giving Factory where they help fill orders for individual children’s needs, including clothes, winter outwear, toys, and books. Employees also volunteer at the annual Back Pack-a-Thon, where in just one day, back packs are filled with school supplies for over 32,000 children. Arbella has held multiple donation drives at its Quincy headquarters, collecting clothes, shoes, books, toys, and more.
